Music at the Meadows
The Young Family Trio returns to MM on Tuesday, December 19, at 4 PM in the Mt. Ashland Room. Father, Dave, on guitar, will be joined by his violinist/fiddler daughter, Abby, and oboist/saxophonist son, Gabe. We have watched Abby and Gabe develop their musical skills over the years. Now both are performing professionals. We are so fortunate to welcome them once again to perform for us. Their exciting program will present...
an eclectic mix of Holiday, Celtic, Klezmer, jazz, classical, and popular music.
Earlier this year, Abby received her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree for violin performance at the University of Miami, and she is now the personnel manager and violinist for the Nu Deco Ensemble (a cross-genre chamber orchestra in Miami). In Florida, Abby has performed with the Naples Philharmonic, Miami Symphony, Miami Bach Society, Michael Bolton, José Feliciano, Natalie Cole, and the Marley Brothers.
Gabe is now a senior at Indiana University – time flies – and is in the midst of graduate school applications. He spent the past summer in Santa Barbara as a fellow at the Music Academy of the West (and prior to that a semester in London). He recently spent a week down in Miami subbing with the New World Symphony. Gabe has earned many honors, including participating for two summers with the National Youth Orchestra of USA while in high school. More recently, Gabe has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and Britt Festival Orchestra. In 2015 he performed the Marcello Oboe Concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute (SMI) Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. – as the winner of the SMI Concerto Competition. In 2016 he won second prize at the International Double Reed Society’s Young Artist Competition that featured contestants from eight different countries.
